S3081 Indefinite Detention of Americans Act Contact Sheet (PDF 380KB)

INDIANA – As reported earlier this week, Senator John McCain introduced bill “S.3081 – Enemy Belligerent, Interrogation, Detention, and Prosecution Act of 2010” on March 4th, 2010 that seeks to wholly usurp the Constitution denying Americans access to ARTICLE III courts. The language of the bill, now available from the Government Printing Office authorizes the indefinite detention of Americans and disallows notification of Miranda Rights, thereby obstructing access to any sort of legal counsel.

Currently the bill has been referred to the Senate Judiciary Committee. Thus we must now undertake the task of ensuring this bill does not make it out of committee in any fashion whatsoever. WASHINGTON D.C. – Senators Charles Schumer, Democrat of New York and Lindsey Graham, Republican of South Carolina are meeting today with President Obama to discuss tactics on how best to orchestrate the appearance of bipartisanship regarding comprehensive immigration reform. However, immigration reform is not the sole reason for the Senators’ visit. Also on the agenda is the culmination of the plutocrat’s fetish like desire to track all Americans with yet another attempt at shackling us with a national identification card.

Since the events of September 11th, the aristocrats on the hill have sought a way to effectively track like cattle all U.S. Citizens; however, despite their relentless fearmongering of boogiemen terrorists, the American people have in large part resisted the attempt to achieve “safety” via a mirroring of 1970’s era East Germany.

In a fashion similar to when the FDIC proposed the “Know Your Customer Rule” before public backlash forced a retraction, the statist have returned to their default playbook to achieve their end by swaddling in a national identification card under the guise of “securing the borders”. Then Assistant Director of the FEDERAL RESERVE, Richard Small provided keen insight to the minds of plutocrats when he spoke at the Mid Atlantic Compliance Conference in 1999, quipping that success of “Know Your Customer” depended on simply renaming the provision in order to avoid public scrutiny; the Central Authority hopes to replicate a corresponding trajectory for the National ID.

Whereas, “Know Your Customer” finally became law upon passage of the unconstitutional USA PATRIOT Act, the National ID card has encountered continued resistance thanks both to the new-media and internet-at-large. First as REAL ID, then as the PASS Act, the National ID has thus far repeatedly run up against an ever-growing chorus of Americans awakening to a federal government intruding ever further into our personal lives and business.

As recently reported, efforts are now under way by Imperial Senators John McCain (R-AZ), Saxby Chambliss (R-GA), Scott “Tea-Party” Brown (R-MA), and seven other co-sponsors co-conspirators to indefinitely detain Americans merely upon suspicion and without trial. Further, details remain sparse on the Obama Administration and Director of National Intelligence Dennis C. Blair’s request to be granted authority by Congress to assassinate Americans suspected of committing belligerent acts against the Central Government. Now the seek to saddle us with a biometric ID which confirms identity be scanning the veins in our hands?

These several recent legislative maneuvers by the treasonous statists in Congress are scheming what can no less be described and ought rightfully be referred to as the “New Intolerable Acts”.

While we are fortunate to have a robust and growing body of enlightened pro-liberty advocates, thinkers, and teachers such as Representative Ron Paul, we must not rest upon their hard work to reclaim our quickly atrophying liberties. As his interview with Megyan Kelly of Fox News demonstrates, we must also consider utterly detaching ourselves form what was once referred to as “the fourth branch of government”, ergo the old-media, as it is obvious at least to this blogger, that they are but mere shills for the statists. Her inference that an erosion of our natural liberties is of no consequence and a necessary concession under the current events, shows her to be a cold lifeless traitor to human liberty.

Make no mistake, the world, why undeniably dangerous, has always appeared to be at an unrivaled level of hostility when viewed through the lens of the here and now. Whereas it took close to 2,000 years of human civilization for an imperfect generation to rightfully proclaim the individual as the standard-bearer of liberty, in full possession of our natural rights, and offer the opportunity to form a more perfect Union.

Let us not now shrink in the duty to be ever vigilant defenders of both our own and our posterity’s unalienable natural liberties in the face of this growing tyranny.

(Wire/LP) – The Liberty movement has been looking for a beacon of truth in the mainstream media to stand up for the Founding Fathers vision of patriotism. At CPAC’s Campaign for Liberty event Thursday night, Ron Paul talked about a young man who came to his office to ask the congressman what it would take to get into politics. Dr. Paul encouraged the young man to consider going into the media business instead.

During an interview with Judge Andrew Napolitano promoting his book “A Nation of Sheep”, he told me we need more wolves in the “fourth branch of government,” spreading the ideas of liberty and that will challenge the dominant progressivism-which sometimes goes by the name “conservatism.” The progressive movement has gradually infiltrated the minds of conservatives, through talk radio and other mediums, and such pundits are truly sheep in wolves clothing.

Enter the Neo-Conservative

Talk host Sean Hannity doesn’t even acknowledge Kentucky Tea Party Republican candidate Rand Paul who was even endorsed by Hannity favorite, Sarah Palin. Rush Limbaugh said of Representative Ron Paul’s CPAC victory, that it “put the brakes on Republican progress.” Mike “holy war” Huckabee, claims of CPAC, “it’s not the event it once was”, and in their agreement, Huckabee and Rush are correct–there were actual conservatives at CPAC this time.

Let’s not forget Debra Medina being treated like a joke by Glenn Beck. Beck obviously doesn’t understand himself, the principles of conservatism he preached to the CPAC audience, concerning “progressivism” and “Wilsonianism”. The blind-leading-the-blind, Beck might want to go back to step-one himself and admit he is himself a disease called “Beckaholism”, a not so rare sickness that consists of part liberty rhetoric, part establishmentarianism, and part progressive interventionism.

Though his schizoid mix is a more dangerous form of the disease, there is hope. Mr. Beck, we invite you to join Neoconservatives Anonymous before going off and embarrassing the rest of us who are actually in recovery from the intellectually debilitating disease of neo-con denial. I am willing to be his sponsor as I am the founder of the program and all are welcome. But remember it’s for those who want it, not for those who need it.

My suggestion to Beck and the rest of the war state ostriches:

1. Take the cotton out of your ears and put it in your confused-about-conservatism mouths.
   
2. Start listening to real wolves in the media beginning with the Mike Church Show.
   

Yes, the Mike Church Show! I recently had the honor of meeting Mike Church at CPAC, a true, modern day Patrick Henry, and someone I believe to be an honest-to-goodness, recovering neoconservative. After he spoke Friday night, a small group had dinner with Mike Church, including his brother, sister-in-law, his producer Andrew Guss, author Tom Mullen, The American Conservative’s Kelly Jane Torrance, Jack Hunter (aka the Southern Avenger”), and we discussed what it was like before and after we woke up from neo-conservatism. Mike Church knows both sides of the real conservative vs. neo-con argument, which easily makes him the most dangerous man on talk radio today. It’s hard to neo-con a recovering neo-con.

Mike Church has been doing talk radio for 18 years and was part of what he calls the “talk show mafia”. Mike has the longest running talk show on Sirius Radio and just a couple of years ago he woke up from neo-conservatism and has been helping wake millions since. Mike discovered noted Liberty movement figures Kevin Gutzman and Tom Woods and organizations like the Ludwig von Mises Institute, which led to his producing a wonderful film about the founders and constitutional government called “The Spirit of 76: The Greatest Story Never Told.”

There are those who do speak for true liberty in the forth branch of government. FOX News Judge Andrew Napolitano with his program “Freedom Watch” and a veteran voice on Sirius satellite radio, the great Mike Church. Before it’s over, I expect there will be many others that will join the Church/Napolitano wolf pack. Who knows, perhaps even the schizophrenic Glenn Beck might come around, finally and fully becoming one of “us”. But chances are by the time that happens-it will be viewed along with the rest of the “talk show mafia” through Mike Church’s rear view mirror.

Essay No. 2

- A Response to My Friend Republicae from “Essays of the Revolution” and fellow member of the DailyPaul.

From my analysis, based upon multiple perspectives of historical research and subsequently merged harmoniously along with principal philosophies from the ‘Age of Enlightenment’ the Republic is not dormant; but was toppled long before the birth of the “lost” or 13th Generation. However make no mistake; the weight is borne with full impact by the 13th and all herein. As such, if we are to realign ourselves within the natural state of human liberty, it shall, as it always has, require a firm conviction by all who profess to favor Liberty to set about righting the glorious path which for so long has been allowed to drift astray.

Therefore, for the purposes of illustration and exchange let me offer a simplified time line of our history from which to begin:

Whilst it is doubtful the beginning of the simplified timeline would cause undue consternation to most, the justification for the transfer from Republic to Populist Democracy through to the present oligarchy will indeed make court historians of the state take umbrage at such an assertion. Therefore, let me make it plain, the timeline results from analysis that with passage of the “Trifecta” in 1913, the Central Authority, i.e. Washington D.C. was unchained from its Federalist restraints of carefully contrived Checks and Balances in its entirety, thus rendering the Republic as nothing more than an impotent sentimentality. Peering further in to the lecherous year of 1913 forebears witness to the key points of the dismantling, which leads us through to the present state of our disheveled Union:

• 16th Amendment (Collateralization of Americans and posterity, Feb. 3, 1913)
• 17th Amendment (Effectively removes states from any role/check on Federal Authority Apr. 8, 1913)
• FEDERAL RESERVE Act (Monopolization of monetary policy into hands of private bankers – Dec. 23, 1913)

All were principal in absolving the ship of state from its Constitutional moorings thereby allowing the Republic to begin listing in the kneejerk speculative inclinations of populist democracy, and thus resulting in a massive growth of central government. As history will illuminate, “democracy”, like the chaos of anarchy, is always a transitional period which results in the creation of a vacuum granting the means for miscreants and tyrants to further centralize power.

Further, with the end of Bretton Woods in 1971 and thus with the transition complete, the Central Banker Oligarchs gained total unchecked power over the nation; let the derivative financial schemes and nationalist neo-patriotism commence.

In conclusion, it is my view that if there is to be a restoration of the Republic in our lifetime we must accomplish the following for a peaceful transition:

1. End the 3rd Central Bank of the United States, i.e. FEDERAL RESERVE.
2. Repudiate Odious Debt created by FEDERAL RESERVE.
3. Repeal Income tax.
4. Restore State Check on the Central Authority’s power and simultaneously reintroduce the people to their representation amongst the several states by repealing the Direct Election of Senators.

May we see the Torch of Liberty Burn all the Brighter.

Essay No. 1 – Ignorance may only flourish in an environment whereby information is controlled either by the state so it may wield unquestioned authority or by academic elite who feel contempt for those of a different station. Neither however may retain their grasp in perpetuum. Such is our situation, thus let us seize this glorious opportunity to the benefit of Human Liberty. We live in a time where knowledge is more freely available to those who desire like no other time in human history. The internet is as revolutionary to the propagation of knowledge as was the Gutenberg Press in its day, which helped usher in the first ‘Age of Enlightenment’.

Nevertheless, a shrinking remnant of individuals who refuse to educate themselves further as well as those who purposely forward false information and half-truths hoping in vain to retain the reigns of their pseudo authority persist. They sit  proliferating sound bite-intellectual morsels from their old-media studios and halls of government hoping their “facts” remain unchecked and thus accepted as truth. Never is a  case of this absurdity more painfully evident than as it relates to the action of nullification against government. Whether by a state or an individual, the word nullification is utterly mired in incomprehension.

Typically, speaking of nullification in the political sense will elicit a poorly informed crippled view of history resulting in a quip regarding the “Civil War” or segregation. Both are utter logical fallacies based on the fact that government was using the law to deny individuals their natural rights in the first place. A fact that is plain and counter to the organic laws of the American Union.

What they are remiss to acknowledge or possibly are wholly unaware, Nullification has worked as a check against Federal power throughout the history of the Republic. Most especially in the cases of the denial of free speech, the imprisonment of those deemed “enemies”, a coerced military draft, and enforcement of the Patriot Act, just to name a few.

It remains imperative that the principle, which prevents the Central Authority from acting as final arbiter of its own power, remain both intact and fully understood. Those powers should and must remain the purview of the several states and the People themselves.

BOWLING GREEN, KENTUCKY – On Monday, former Governor of Alaska, and 2008 Republican Vice-Presidential candidate, Sarah Palin endorsed Dr. Rand Paul¹ over his Primary opponent, Secretary of State, Trey Grayson stating:

“I’m proud to support great grass roots candidates like Dr. Paul — While there are issues we disagree on, he and I are both in agreement that it’s time to shake up the status quo in Washington and stand up for common sense ideas.” Sarah Palin Former Governor of Alaska

Recent polling was already showing Rand widening the gap substantially between himself and Grayson² as well as beating every possible Democratic contender in the General Election prior to Sarah the Rogue’s verbal thumbs-up, so it appears to this blogger at least, as more of a calculated political move by the former Governor, than a huge plus for Candidate Paul.

In addition to her official statement endorsing the younger Paul, her political action committee, SarahPAC donated $2,000 to the doctor’s already burgeoning campaign war chest, again mostly thanks to money-bombs from the grassroots and not PAC’s. Her endorsement, in conjunction with recent controversial actions taken by the Campaign for Liberty, the attempted co-opting of the Tea-Party movement by the likes of Dick Armey³ and indeed the questionable platform stances by Rand Paul himself have left many in the Liberty movement, myself included, scratching our heads. It begs the question whether cozying up to establishment figureheads will lead to a watering down of the message, or derail the momentum thus far gained on the road to restoring the Republic.

However, where some see the aforementioned as nails into the coffin of all the progress thus far, upon further contemplation, I see opportunity; opportunity to make strides towards the reclamation of our natural rights formerly unfathomable in the wake of the Bush administration, September 11th, and the status-quo’s brand of neo-patriotism.

Nevertheless, it was very deflating to listen early on to Scott Horton’s interview of Rand Paul over at Anti-War.com⁴. During the interview, the younger Paul espoused believing in the Chief Executive’s right to act unilaterally without a Declaration of War, support for continuing the war in Afghanistan, and the absurd notion of keeping Club Torture, i.e. Guantanamo up and running in lieu of a total and complete shuttering.

Additionally, while continuing to observe Rand’s campaign it seems pedantic to me when he offers, “term limits”, code for lazy democracy, as a way to combat corruption in Washington D.C. As we all know, the 22nd Amendment has done little to spare us of corrupt, disastrous, power-hungry Chief Executives. It has only succeeding in perpetrating the illusion of change with each successive changing of the puppet.

But wait, there is hope; Rand like his statesman father, understands the insidious parasitic relationship of the FEDERAL RESERVE and the U.S. government. This my fellow readers in my opinion is our “golden arrow”; our chance to come face to face with the absolute root which enables the promulgation of its siblings, the FEDERAL RESERVE. The reality that a private cartel of bankers and the cottage supporting industries, i.e. Goldman Sachs have intertwined themselves so tightly into government via currency creation and the endless list of their crony sycophants receiving high level cabinet and department level appointments are the core reason for the current dilapidated condition of our Constitutional Republic, once known as America.

The central banker puppet masters alone through legislation enacted almost a century age, ergo the FEDERAL RESERVE Act, 16th, and 17th Amendments succeeded in delegating ‘We the People’ as collateral to finance their odious debt, corrupted the Senate, and morphed us from Republic to populous democracy, whilst simultaneously bestowing upon themselves monopoly control over the currency.

Moreover fellow readers ask yourself this question, where was your political philosophy and understanding of the issues five, ten, twenty years ago? My sophomore year in high school for example, my mother and myself sat glued to the television watching Tom Brokaw declare Bill Clinton the 42nd President of the United States. Upon Mr. Brokaw’s announcement, I remember turning to my mother and asking, “Things are going to be better now –right?”

Up until the election of William Clinton, the previous Presidents were all ‘evil’ Republicans, save my infancy during the Carter administration, and we were a rust-belt working class “Democrat” family, so surely a Democrat in office would make life peachy. Unfortunately, reality painted a different picture and the election of Clinton was a furthering of my education rather than salvation for working-class families such as my own.

The actions of the Clinton Administration were the catalyst for me to dig beneath the nationalist sugary sweet veneer that was beat into my head throughout my tenure at government school. The nauseating actions undertaken especially by his Attorney General, Janet Reno forever removed my rose-colored glasses and prompted me to purchase my first copy of Thomas Paine’s Rights of Man/Common Sense from a local bookstore.

In addition, contrasted against the largely college-centric movement of the late 1960’s whereby the focus was largely on the dissatisfaction of college-aged anti-war protesters, the Liberty movement is not so one-dimensional.

We are made up of not only the 13th Generation, a generation literally written off in our infancy as “the lost generation”, the roots to the movement run deep and are of a diverse stock. The movement includes not only those of us in our 30’s and 40’s, but we also benefit from the excellent work undertaken at the college level by Young Americans for Liberty, and are blessed with the veteran elders of the movement like Dr. Paul, Lew Rockwell, and Judge Andrew Napolitano, to name just a few.

In addition to spanning generations, my time in the movement has afforded me the opportunity to meet those from every walk of life under the sun; black, white, yellow, red, Christian, atheist, rich, poor, queer, straight, it matters not. The liberty movement redefines “big-tent” simply as American, people-group be damned.

So please ask yourself the last time you can remember something that freely unified such a wide swath spanning generations, race, and class. Liberty, my fellow readers is a most glorious unifier like no other. Thus, this is why we shake the puppet masters to their core. Fear not the endorsement of “Sarah the Rogue”.

As such, as we all continue to learn and expand our understanding; we must make room for this to apply to individuals like Sarah Palin as well, and seize the opportunity to begin a dialog with her and her supporters about the insidious nature of Central Banking, true Constitutionally limited government, and the doctrine of just, not preemptive war.

The Kentucky Senate race is likely to be watched closely both to gauge the threat to the establishment’s entrenched power via the inclusion of a Paul in the Senate and to see if Democrats could steal the seat currently held by Senator Jim Bunning (R-KY) who announced his retirement last year. Let us seize the opportunity before us to spread the warm glow of the Sunshine of Liberty through educating and conversing with others on the principles of natural rights and the dangers of Central Banking.

Our posterity and our Republic deserve no less and the opportunity before us has never before in my lifetime been so self-evident.

“Not Evil Just Wrong” looks to debunk the myths promoted by environmental extremists.

A new documentary by Phelim McAleer and Ann McElhinney entitled, “Not Evil Just Wrong” looks to debunk the various pseudo-scientific notions presented by global-warming profiteers, such as former Vice-President Al Gore. A man who looks to foster fear of environmental catastrophe amongst people, spinning emotionally charged fables of dying polar bears in a manner all too similar to former President George W. Bush’s smoking-gun/ mushroom-cloud analogy prior to the invasion and occupation of Iraq in 2003.

The directors look to combat what they view as the environmental movement’s most powerful weapon, disinformation. Consequently, “Not Evil Just Wrong” charges headlong into debunking the claim of “scientific consensus” as well as the infamous “hockey stick graph” that attributed a supposedly unique increase in temperature during the 20th Century to the industrialization of human society. The film further tasks itself with disproving several of the environmental movement’s core talking points, from the hottest years on record myth, to the preposterous notion that Co2, i.e. oxygen to all plant life, is poison.

According to the group’s media contact Travis Swindle, the documentary will reach global saturation as a result of the thousands of planned DVD/theatrical premieres as well as the free internet streams set to commence on Sunday, October 18 at 8:00 p.m. EST. Both the documentary’s website, NotEvilJustWrong.com and several affiliates such as Andrew Breitbart’s collaborative blog project, BigHollywood.com, will host the free streams in order to provide a smooth viewing experience.

With traditional media networks continuing to hemorrhage viewers, the potential for a successful premiere of a feature-length documentary at least in part over the internet, may provide a glimpse to the thus far elusive new-media business model.

Liberty activist Kurt Hoffman was sentenced to 6 months in jail after Keene District Court Justice Edward Burke cited Mr. him for contempt. More specifically, Mr. Hoffman demanded that the Justice Burke at least say ‘please’ in lieu of commanding individuals rise upon his entrance to the court. Shortly thereafter, Mr. Hoffman was removed from the courtroom and assaulted by officer Eli Rivera behind closed doors. Liberty activists then proceed to hold a candle light vigil in front of Eli Rivera’s home, enraging the officer further.

In addition, there are several reports that since the initial assault, Mr. Hoffman’s conditioned has continue to worsen. Users at the DailyPaul.com spark investigation into California based APPF/Michael Hilton by Montana’s Attorney General.

HARDIN, MONTANA – On the heels of new-media journalists James O’Keefe and Hannah Giles secretly filming employees at several ACORN offices advising the two on tax evasion and how to set up a prostitution ring, users at the DailyPaul.com successfully waged a campaign to expose a ruse by the mercenaries, American Private Police Force, to literally take over the town of Hardin, Montana.

Details posted at the Daily Paul outlined an agreement between the quasi-private, Two Rivers Authority (TRA) of Hardin, Montana and California based, American Private Police Force (APPF), a paramilitary force run by convicted felon, Michael Hilton. The 10-year agreement, with an additional 10-year option, sought to install APPF as the operating contractor of the unused $20 million Hardin Detention facility.

Old-media outlets finally began to look critically into the story  after APFF rolled into Hardin driving three  Mercedes sports utility vehicles emblazoned with “Hardin Police Department” decals. Suspicious not only in part as to the mercenary drivers of the vehicles, but also due to the fact that the city of just over 3,000 has no lawfully established police department of its own and instead cedes jurisdiction under contract to the Big Horn County Sheriff’s Department.

The danger of granting a private mercenary force police powers is of course self-evident, and as such, officials from Two Rivers Authority first attempted to brush off such claims as wild unsubstantiated rumor. In fact, Albert Peterson, Vice President of TRA, claimed he was completely unaware of any agreement whatsoever to bestow police duties upon APPF, stating:

“I have no idea. I really don’t because that’s not been a part of any of the discussions we’ve had with any of them.”

Unfortunately, for Mr. Peterson, typical of the type who weasel their way into pseudo-authority, the AGREEMENT between TRA and APPF, outlining the police department option found its way onto the internet. The AGREEMENT exposes Two Rivers Authority as nothing more than a gang of worthless bureaucrats far too willing to subject fellow residents of Hardin to the whims of a paramilitary mercenary force; birds of a feather.

Even more disturbing, delving further into the AGREEMENT between TRA and APPF, one subsequently discovers the creation of the position of a Hardin City “Police Chief” who at their own discretion, could utilize the main jail facility to detain individuals in their custody. This second revelation fully exposes at least in my mind, the true intentions of the demented felon, Michael Hilton

We are all sickeningly familiar with the atrocities committed by mercenary thugs, carelessly glossed over as “contractors” by the nightly news such as Blackwater/Xe. Imagine the potential for tyranny with a paramilitary group not sworn in any way to uphold either the Montana or federal Constitution setting up shop in a practically new $20 million detention center compound whilst also supplanting themselves as the czars of local law enforcement.

As additional details concerning Michael Hilton’s multiple counts of theft, fraud, and general swindling finally poured out into the open, bondholders became increasingly resistant to finalize any deal at all with APPF, who just weeks prior and in the actual AGREEMENT was then known as American Police Force (APF). One would be remiss in failing to point out that simple internet searches performed by regular everyday individuals managed to expose Mr. Hilton’s criminal past, a bit of due diligence apparently outside the intellectual capacity of officers at TRA.

The tireless onslaught of phone calls by new-media journalists and concerned individuals literally flooded the offices of public officials in both Hardin and Helena, the state capitol. The public outcry led to Steve Bullock, Montana’s Attorney General to issue a CIVIL INVESTIGATION DEMAND LETTER to both TRA and APPF seeking verification of the numerous representations stated publicly and on the APPF website throughout negotiations over the detention facility. A formal response to the letter is due from both parties no later than today. As of this morning however, only TRA had filed their answers with the Attorney General’s office.

Continuing pressure exerted by the new-media culminated this past Friday when APPF announced it was fully withdrawing from the Hardin Detention Center deal. According to the group’s spokeswoman, Becky Shay, the last she saw her boss, Michael Hilton and his entourage of paramilitary thugs, they were headed out of Hardin towards California in two of the now infamous black Mercedes SUV’s.

The sheer arrogant audacity continuing to be displayed by officials from TRA is entirely shameful. Removal of all of these pull-peddling scoundrels from their positions at TRA would be a much kinder form of public shaming than the punishments reserved for scoundrels such as this during the War for Independence, although the latter would perhaps be more appropriate. The only direct consequence suffered thus far by those at TRA has been the suspension of Gregory Smith, TRA’s Executive Director. The good people of Hardin, have been snookered one-time too many,in my opinion. Prudence indeed may guide them to find an appropriate use for the public snow job known as the Hardin Detention Center, perhaps as a facility to “detain” the pull peddlers at TRA who were willing to subject the people of Hardin to the likes of a group of paramilitary mercenaries.

MINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA – Young Americans for Liberty (YAL) hosted a student town hall featuring Representatives Michele Bachmann of Minnesota and Ron Paul of Texas this past Friday at Northrop Auditorium located on the campus of the University of Minnesota. Both Congressional representatives spoke to the students about limiting the size and scope of government, monetary policy, and free market economics after having earlier in the day been present during testimony before the House Financial Services Committee regarding Dr. Paul’s bill to comprehensively audit the FEDERAL RESERVE, H.R. 1207.

Despite the seemingly complex subject matter, students, faculty, and residents filled the auditorium to hear both Representatives rail against the consequences of big government and central economic planning at the hands of a private central bank. After a short introduction by Representative Bachmann, the crowd rose to its feet to give Dr. Paul a standing ovation, a scene repeated throughout and upon conclusion of Dr. Paul’s speech.
