We here at The Smoking Argus take the story behind our namesake to heart. We feel that at this time in history, our American republic, needs as many “watchful guardians” looking after the plutocratic oligarchs as possible. Further, we feel that “identity politics” leeches the power of Americans by splitting us into disputatious factions, i.e. “people groups”. It is the opinion of this daily, that while this serves as a convenient package for politicians to craft an election strategy, it is an abhorrent way to defend or govern our Constitutional republic.
Therefore, we at The Smoking Argus, will not pander or seek the approval of any particular ideology, character trait, politician, political party, religious persuasion, ethnicity, etcetera, etcetera. We welcome everyone irrelevant of their label, both as contributors and those who add to the conversation via the post comment forms.
We take solace in the fact that Mr. Ralph Nader, Representative Ron Paul (TX), and other unlikely allies are concerned enough about the state of our Republic, that they are able to focus on four areas of agreement, instead of bloviating about their differences. We also concur that the following are necessary to reclaim the Republic:
- Foreign Policy – No preemptive war, no empire, no torture or “enhanced interrogation”
- Privacy – Repeal of the Patriot Act, FISA, Military Commissions Act
- Debt – Balanced budgets
- Federal Reserve – Abolition of FEDERAL RESERVE and return to sound Constitutional Money.
Additionally, we at The Smoking Argus, believe that in order to provide quality editorial and reporting, stories and references made within a contributor’s post, must be sourced. We adhere to this tenant both for our own credibility and in order to keep our readers fully informed on facts contained therein.
