Ron Paul at Northrop Auditorium, University of Minnesota

Allison Bricker

Northrop Auditorium, University of MinnesotaMINNEAPOLIS, MINNESOTA – Young Americans for Liberty (YAL) hosted a student town hall featuring Representatives Michele Bachmann of Minnesota and Ron Paul of Texas this past Friday at Northrop Auditorium located on the campus of the University of Minnesota. Both Congressional representatives spoke to the students about limiting the size and scope of government, monetary policy, and free market economics after having earlier in the day been present during testimony before the House Financial Services Committee regarding Dr. Paul’s bill to comprehensively audit the FEDERAL RESERVE, H.R. 1207.

Despite the seemingly complex subject matter, students, faculty, and residents filled the auditorium to hear both Representatives rail against the consequences of big government and central economic planning at the hands of a private central bank. After a short introduction by Representative Bachmann, the crowd rose to its feet to give Dr. Paul a standing ovation, a scene repeated throughout and upon conclusion of Dr. Paul’s speech.

Editor’s Note: The video is approximately thirty-seven minutes in length and contains Representative Ron Paul’s speech during the town hall. The question and answer portion is unfortunately not included.

GOP Weekly Address: Senator Isakson of Georgia, Health Care Reform

The Smoking Argus

OFFICIAL STATEMENT – Senator Johnny Isakson (R-GA) delivers the weekly Republican address on the Health Care Reform bill that is currently being debated in the Senate Finance Committee. Senator Isakson also sends his condolences to the families of those who have lost their lives due to the recent flooding in Georgia.

Senator Isakson discusses how important this Health Care Reform bill is to the American people and how the Republicans have listened to what their constituents have demanded at local events and town hall forums.

Senator Isakson declares that “Americans are rightly concerned about the rush to pass a massive overhaul that will raise their taxes, lower their quality of care and put government between them and their doctor.” And that “Republicans believe the key to reforming health care is strengthening the doctor-patient relationship by using choice and competition rather than rationing and restrictions to contain costs and ensure access to affordable health care.”

The American Republic has witnessed two previous central banking institutions in its history, both of which were abolished after wrecking havoc on the economy due to the inherent flaws of central economic planning.

H.R. 1207 currently enjoys a majority in the House of Representatives via co-sponsorship by 293 other House members. The companion bill in the Senate is S. 604

Census Worker Found Hanged in Kentucky; Word ‘fed’ Written on Victim’s Chest

Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) is currently looking into whether or not “anti-government” sentiment played a role in death.

MANCHESTER, KENTUCKY – The body of 51-year-old census worker, Bill Sparkman was discovered hanged in a secluded area of Daniel Boone National Forest on September 12th with the word ‘fed written on his chest. The part-time teacher has worked with the Census Bureau since 2003 and was recently conducting interviews throughout Clay and surrounding Counties. The Census Bureau has since suspended door-to-door interviews pending the ongoing investigation’s outcome.

Details surrounding the case are still sparse as the FBI is yet to determine whether the death was a suicide or an act of murder. Nor have law-enforcement revealed what instrument or instruments were used to write the word ‘fed’ on the chest of Mr. Sparkman.

Official spokesman from the Kentucky F.B.I. office, David Beyer said:

“Our job is to determine if there was foul play involved — and that’s part of the investigation — and if there was foul play involved, whether that is related to his employment as a census worker,”

Chief Division Counsel/Media Coordinator
Federal Bureau of Investigation, Kentucky Office

In addition, and according to Lucindia Scurry-Johnson, the Assistant Director of the Census Bureau’s office in Charlotte, North Carolina the federal investigators have only indicated they are looking at ‘apparent homicide’ but have shared little else.

New Hampshire Police Seek to Arrest Free State Activist for Gardening without a Permit

Tarrin Lupo

keene_new_hampshire_police_department_patch(LCL) KEENE, NEW HAMPSHIRE – Local police are currently waiting for Free-State activist Jesse Moloney, better known as “Anarcho-Jesse”, to turn himself in on an outstanding bench warrant. The bench warrant issued by the Keene District Court stems from Mr. Moloney’s failure to pay the initial fine imposed by Justice Burke during Mr. Moloney’s trial. In July of this year, Mr. Moloney was found guilty on charges of “Excavating without a permit on city-land”.

In an attempt to expose the fallacious misnomer of “public” land and as protest regarding the necessity of a “food-cooperative feasibility study” commissioned by the city at a cost to taxpayers of approximately five-thousand dollars, Mr. Moloney began excavating a plot of “public” land downtown thereby resulting in his arrest this past April.

Despite challenging the validity of the Keene ordinance, by offering the lack of New Hampshire being a home rule state, whereby cities operate only under jurisdiction extended unto them by the state, Justice Burke found him guilty. In his ruling, Justice Burke adjudicated that the state statute did not intend to overturn the existing city ordinance, and as such, imposed a $120.00 fine upon Mr. Moloney. The current bench warrant resulted in his failure to render payment of the fine unto the court.

Fort Lee, New Jersey Bureaucrat Thinks She is Above the Law

Tarrin Lupo

In yet another instance, which demonstrates how, more and more bureaucrats view themselves as above/exempt from the law, a Fort Lee, New Jersey “pull peddler” opted to place an “Official Police Business” placard in the window of her vehicle while parked on the street at home. Several ‘regular’ neighborhood residents began receiving spurious parking tickets but took note how the bureaucrat’s vehicle was continually sparred the annoyance  due to the police window placard. As such, “Bile” from BlogOfBile attempted to document the continuing preferential parking treatment, much to the chagrin of the bureaucrat who stormed out to confront and demean the new-media journalist for filming her vehicle on a public street.

Andrew_Napolitano_camera_is_new_gun_QUOTEIn addition to refusing to identify herself outside of her first name nor her official role within the borough, the bureaucrat known only as ‘Donna’ attempts to repeatedly intimidate Tony with threats of having him “locked-up” as well as responding that she is now interrogating him as part of her “official police business”.

However, according to Lieutenant Milo of the Fort Lee Police Department, only five female officers are currently employed by FLPD; none of which have the first name ‘Donna’, so thus it remains to be seen if ‘Donna’ may be guilty of impersonating a police officer in addition to her display of a wholly unacceptable elitist attitude.

Peter Schiff Officially Declares Candidacy for U.S. Senate

Wire Report

Peter Schiff(S4S) WESTON, CONNECTICUT – Today, Weston Republican Peter Schiff formally announced his candidacy for the U.S. Senate. Over the past few months, Mr. Schiff, a successful entrepreneur and well-known proponent of fiscal responsibility, has been inspired by his fellow citizens urging him to bring his principled approach to Congress. As he enters this campaign, Mr. Schiff’s priority is to serve the American taxpayer. Years of reckless federal spending have placed an immense burden on every American that Mr. Schiff vows to ease.

Peter Schiff was born to a working-class family in New Haven, Connecticut. His grandfather came to New Haven in 1910 and helped with the construction of the Yale Bowl. Mr. Schiff spent his childhood in New Haven during the 60s and 70s during which values were instilled in him by his family such as hard work, self-reliance, and loyalty-loyalty to friends, to family, and to country. After successfully building his brokerage firm, Euro Pacific Capital, in California, Mr. Schiff decided to relocate the headquarters to Connecticut in 2003. He currently resides in Weston with his seven year old son. Since returning to Connecticut Mr. Schiff has published two books: Crash Proof and The Little Book of Bull Moves in Bear Markets.

Mr. Schiff gained notoriety in 2006 with a series of national interviews in which he accurately diagnosed the dangers that confronted the economy and predicted the mechanisms that led to the crash. His correct prognosis of the sub-prime lending crisis and subsequent credit crunch made him a popular economic commentator. Ever since, he has tirelessly sounded these warnings.

In January of 2009, with the near-collapse of the financial system and revelations about the corruption of Connecticut politicians, calls began to surface for Mr. Schiff to run for office. An exploratory committee was formed in June.

To date, 10,000 individuals have convinced him to run for Senate with telephone calls and letters of support; additionally, they have raised over $1,000,000 on his behalf. Schiff now believes a run for the Senate is absolutely necessary to give a voice to the majority of Connecticut taxpayers who are misrepresented.

“I plan to bring my dedication and experience to the taxpayers of Connecticut. I may make mistakes in this campaign—but I will not make mistakes in representing you in the Senate. I look forward to an exciting race where I can share my vision with the people of Connecticut.”
